Nearly 10% of Niagara College students are international students. Over 800 students arrive from 70 countries worldwide, including Colombia and Japan. And every student is an exciting part of the culture share.
To celebrate and promote the advantages of international tutoring, the college is celebrating international education week with other Canadian colleges and universities across Canada. Niagara organizes various events both on campus in honor of food, dance and art, as well as ways to introduce students can take to become globally engaged.
This is a chance for them to develop and explore educational initiatives abroad and the role Niagara College plays in the world. On Wednesday, they were on the Welland campus, assist with arts and crafts shows where the plot annual fair trade products were for sale, and stuffs composed by staff in other countries were sale on special offer, including clothing, jewelry, handicrafts and textiles.
All proceeds from the event go toward a tourism training school in Argentina and provide travel grants to students for internships and study abroad. The week began with a culinary adventure on Monday, by which the students had the chance to try cuisine from many countries, include sushi, some students tried for the first time.
Presentations were prepared to classes on international co-op knowledge. To date, the college has awarded more than 460 students with opportunities around the worldwide. These life changing experiences are including working at the Fairmount Dubai to support AIDS/HIV awareness in South Africa. Friday finds college’s events with a Latin celebration at the Welland campus pub’s, at 7 pm on dance lessons.
